The college was originally established as Wasudeo Arts College at Wardha in 1935 which was later on shifted to Nagpur in 1942 and renamed as National College. In 1949, Shri Shivaji Education Society, Amravati took over the college and once again renamed in 1951 as Dhanwate National College after Shrimant Dadasaheb Dhanwate who wholeheartedly donated to the society. In 1960 Commerce, Arts and Science streams came into being. In 1967 Science stream was separated and independent Science College came to be established.
The Department of Mass communication offers BA Mass Communication ( BAMC) from 2016 and MA Mass Communication ( MAMC ) from 2004. The Department of Mass Communication at our institution is proud to boast an exceptional team of expert teaching faculty dedicated to nurturing the next generation of media professionals. Our faculty members bring a wealth of industry experience, academic expertise, and a passion for teaching to the classroom, ensuring that students receive a comprehensive and relevant education in the field of mass communication.
Our faculty members blend practical experience with innovative teaching methods, including hands-on projects, case studies, and guest lectures. They prioritize student success, offering personalized mentorship and guidance. Our state-of-the-art studio allows students to gain practical experience in media production, from news segments to podcasts, enhancing their skills and preparing them for careers in mass communication.
The department have made tremendous progress in every aspect of education, academics, research and extension activities, currently the department trying to develop at every aspect more and more under the Head of Department Asst Prof. Nitin Karale, with potent regular and CHB faculties.
