NSS

The National Serving Scheme was established Dhanwate National College ,Nagpur in the same year when it was established in the University, which is affiliated to the Rashtrasant Tukodoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur The unit has capacity of 200 volunteers and legacy of glorious past of 50 years with spectrum of achievements. The NSS is part of our academic, social and personal as it is third dimension of education. It allows the students to actively contribute their service for welfare of the community and the nation. Thus, helping them flourish their socio-cultural personality and develop the leadership qualities. As such the NSS is the right platform where the student-youth of the Nation may get to involve with real-life social activities and thereby become responsible citizen of India.

The Motto and tag line of NSS is
“Not me But You”

This reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for selfless service and appreciation of the other person’s point of view and also to show consideration for a fellow human being. It underlines that the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of society on the whole. Therefore, it should be the aim of NSS to demonstrate this motto in its day- today programs.

About NSS

The National Service Scheme (NSS) was established in had its birth on September 24, 1969 the occasion of birth centenary of Mahatma Gandhi with a purpose and objective of social development and belongingness amongst the students of colleges. The scheme was first launched in 37 universities comprising 40000 students. Today the NSS has become largest government organization of students in the country comprising members from +2 level to the college and university level. The strength of volunteers has now increased to more than 30 lakhs, which make the NSS one of the largest student forces in the world. The NSS has good relations with different government agencies and non-government organizations in implementing its programmes for building up community assets, helping the underprivileged people through education and social services. The NSS is useful not only for the development of the students’ personality but it also helps to promote the unity and integrity of the nation by bringing together young people from diverse geographical and socio- cultural backgrounds.
